About Green Screening SeriesGreen Solutions, is a social enterprise located in the southwest China that advocates for a sustainable lifestyle，plant-based diet and organic food. We sell products that are carefully sourced, tested or used by us, 100% eco-friendly and cruelty-free and support environmentally conscious businesses and individuals in China and worldwide. Each month, Green Solutions holds a community film screening.The event features an educational film on an on-going environmental issue, a guest speaker who gives a damn about our planet and a hands-on eco-friendly activity.

About the film A testament to the immense complexity of nature, The Biggest Little Farm follows two dreamers and a dog on an odyssey to bring harmony to both their lives and the land. When the barking of their beloved dog Todd leads to an eviction notice from their tiny LA apartment, John and Molly Chester make a choice that takes them out of the city and onto 200 acres in the foothills of Ventura County, naively endeavoring to build one of the most diverse farms of its kind in complete coexistence with nature. The land they've chosen, however, is utterly depleted of nutrients and suffering from a brutal drought. The film chronicles eight years of daunting work and outsize idealism as they attempt to create the utopia they seek, planting 10,000 orchard trees and over 200 different crops, and bringing in animals of every kind- including an unforgettable pig named Emma and her best friend, Greasy the rooster. The speaker of the night

Guest Speaker, Siyue WangSiyue Wang is a natural farming practitioner. He is Yunnan native. He was first drawn to the nature when he was young and helping his family herding animals in the forests. Soon after enrolling in the university, he joined an NGO and started traveling all across China to do volunteering tasks. Both these experiences have helped bring him closer to the path to build his own conventional farm that is beneficial for both nature and people. He has dedicated his life to natural farming methods, avoiding using any plastic hoop houses and chemicals, for over 10 years. He aims to send a positive message that traditional farming is not only possible but profitable in China. His farm, Kaixi Farm, is located in the south of Kunming. It covers 60 Chinese acres of land, half of which is forested. In addition to supplying organic veggies and free-range livestock to the people in the city, his farm also facilitates students experiential and inquiry-based learning activities. It promotes learning by doing. Activities such as parent-child inquiry learning, forest research programs and traditional hand-crafting events are often organized at the farm to actively engage students in the learning process. 
特邀嘉宾， 王思越自然爱好者，开心农场主。云南本土人，儿时做牧童的经历让他感受到了大自然给他带来的快乐。进入大学，王思越加入了一个云南公益组织，游历全国大江南北做志愿服务。他的成长和志愿者经历，让他走上了一条自己深爱但漫长艰难的自然农法之路。过去10余年，思越一心专注于自然农业。坚持不使用塑料大棚和任何化学制品。他用自己的行动证明这种传统农法不但是唯一正确的道路而且可以以此谋生。开心农场位于昆明市晋宁区宝峰镇，占地面积60亩，其中30亩为山林，除了种植和养殖，也是体验式研学生态农场。农场一次可接待40余人，住宿可容纳40余人。开心农场提倡“玩中学，学中乐”的理念，开展自然森林探索活动，亲子研学营等活动，让家长和孩子一起体验农耕生活，感受乡间趣味，并结合民间手工艺术，为家长及孩子提供真正一站式的亲子趣味体验式学习的农场。

About Ray, Founder and CEO at Blue Sheep

Ray is from the UK and worked as a doctor.  How did she end up owning a craft shop in Chengdu, China?!
Ray became a doctor because she wanted to help people around the world.  While studying medicine in the UK, Ray had an opportunity to go to Nepal to experience health care there. In Nepal, most doctors live in the big cities, which means that the rural areas are left with very little medical care. When she was in Nepal, she kept hearing that the people were too poor and that this was causing or prolonging their medical problems.  After Nepal, Ray drove to India and since then has worked in 15 different countries,  training others in rural areas to treat the sick, injured and disabled and providing medical information in local languages.During her travels, Ray heard that people would choose to amputate a child’s broken leg because their family could not afford the expenses to have it fixed properly.  It became clear to Doctor Ray that, as well as making sure that healthcare is available in remote places, one important way to increase the health of the poor is to alleviate their poverty.Doctor Ray used her own money to open Blue Sheep to help the needy.  She recently sold her apartment, and is open to using the money from this if Blue Sheep needs it in the future.The Blue Sheep store is a social enterprise that collects handcrafts from different minorities - from those with disabilities, or heavy medical bills or suffering from poverty for some other reason. Blue Sheep pays on receipt of products so craftsmen do not have to wait for payment. Currently around 800 people are helped in this way in China, and also in other countries.
Blue Sheep markets these special products locally and internationally. Profits are put back into individual or community projects to fight poverty. Blue Sheep arranges training, and plans to have design workshops to link some of the producers with designers who can help to make truly great products with hopes that this will help to preserve some ancient skills and culture and showcase them to a wide audience.Blue Sheep has provided relief items – food and bedding, solar lights, first aid equipment and livestock to farmers after earthquakes, floods and landslides; books for community libraries; scholarships for poor students, and improvement of facilities in three schools for migrant workers’ children.Ray herself was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, but has received treatment and is currently healthy; cycling around Chengdu and working almost every day!  Doctor Ray’s goal is to build a company that is sustainable, that truly benefits the producers and that the products bring great pleasure to the buyers. This is a real challenge, as selling handcrafts does not usually bring large profits. However, Ray embraces the challenge and gives it her best try!
